Mario creator talks about Nintendo's pre-compatibility

For a long time, gamers have been concerned about the pre-compatibility of Nintendo's upcoming consoles. In a simpler and clearer sense, will we see Switch games in future generations? Or even any previous games with the current generation.

One of the creators of the character “Mario”, Shigeru Miyamoto, has given fans plenty of reassurance on the matter. He says that it’s now easier than ever to enjoy previous-generation games on Nintendo consoles, but at this point he’s unsure of an exact date for when the feature will arrive on the Switch.

Since almost all current generation devices have the pre-compatibility feature, Switch gamers now think that they have the right to play all old games, in fact, this feature is a must-have in our time.

The most important thing I can say to hybrid platform players is to be patient, because the Switch came at a critical time in the last generation, namely with our relative weakness in the last generation of home platforms. This in itself represents a huge challenge for Nintendo in satisfying the desires of its users.

The Switch has seen tremendous success throughout the third quarter. The Nintendo Switch has now sold over 3.25 million copies. Total sales of the platform in the first half of the fiscal year, that is, from March to September of last year, reached 6.68 million copies, a decrease of 19.2% compared to the previous year.

What are your expectations for the platform? Will we see the feature next year or will it somehow be introduced to the new generation?
