We learned a few days ago that Battlefield 2042 will be released for all Ultimate and EA Play subscribers, coinciding with the launch of the game's third season.

It was confirmed a short time ago that the game will be released for owners of the service, as members of the Xbox Game Pass service, as well as members of the EA Play service, will have a date with a full free trial starting next week, which will coincide with the 22nd of this month.

Battlefield 2042 Season 3 will be titled “Escalation.” The new season will come with an all-new Spearhead map, which will be set in Swedish territory, featuring high-tech semi-automatic weapons manufacturing facilities.

Publisher EA previously confirmed that players on other platforms will be in for a treat with a temporary free trial. Here's what it'll be like.

  • From December 1st to December 4th, “Xbox”.
  • December 1st to 5th, Steam Store.
  • From December 16th to 23rd, “PlayStation”.

More about the game:

The new season will bring us a new character, a map that “DICE has been wanting to release” for a while, and more content. Despite continued support for the game, the lack of a classic Battlefield 2042 campaign or campaign mode is frustrating, something that developers at DICE and Electronic Arts seem intent on avoiding in the game’s next sequel, as evidenced by a vacant job posting for a Design Director.

If you’re thinking about trying out Battlefield 2042 on GamePass or any of the services mentioned above, I’d like to remind you that Microsoft launched its new Game Pass Family & Friends bundle on November 5. This bundle offers its subscribers a bunch of new features, including account sharing and access to multiple Xbox services. You can check out the subscription here, which costs $14T 25.
