Following in the footsteps of Resident Evil, Konami has started a plan to revive the Silent Hill series by re-releasing the second part of Silent Hill 2 with an improved Remake version and revealing a new title that is a reimagining of the series with a new story, characters and more, but how much of a leap will the remake of the second part achieve compared to the original game.

We know from last night's announcements that the UE5 engine will be used in the development of the new remake for the second part, emphasizing the use of all the modern technologies that were revealed in the engine, and this predicts that we will be on a date with a visually distinct re-release.

But the ElAnalistaDeBits channel, as always, made an early comparison of some of the scenes that appeared in the Silent Hill 2 Remake review last night with the original scenes that appeared in the game that was released in 2001, and the result was impressive, as you can see in the video below.

The new game will continue to feature the same story, but with significant visual improvements, as well as improvements to the combat system, as well as the development of the story and characters that will become more interactive than before, and many terrifying situations that have been reworked from the original game to seem more terrifying.

We also notice in the video how the fog has been redistributed around the town of Silent Hill, despite its density, but now gives the player the chance to see, even with difficulty, some of the landmarks it hides behind, and this makes the horror element stand out more than before.

Additionally, the city map we get our first look at the shop's courtyard at the beginning, which has appeared with a more accurate design while keeping the original design unchanged.

Add to that changing the camera position from the third perspective to the “over the shoulder” position, as is the case in next-gen games, and this will obviously improve the gameplay experience and immerse you more in the character’s perspective and closer.

Cinematic scenes from the original game have also been remastered in Silent Hill 2 Remake to play out in real-time with stunning detail and cinematic accuracy.

Yes, that's right, "Ras of the Pyramid" is back and we've got our first look at the new show, where it's been redesigned again to look more terrifying and it looks like its search for us will be full of fear and screaming.

Silent Hill 2 Remake will be exclusive to next-gen platforms and PC, as it will use modern technologies such as Lumen and Nineite technology in Unreal Engine 5, as well as modern shadow, lighting and reflection techniques.

The game will initially be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. After a full year (12 months), it will be released on other platforms.

As of writing this report, the game's release date has not been revealed, but Konami has promised to reveal more details very soon, so we expect the release date to be revealed alongside in-depth gameplay during the expected PlayStation event or perhaps via a State of Play episode in the future.
