Chinese company NetEase has acquired French development studio Quantic Dream for US$100 million.
French development studio Quantic Dream is known for its collaboration with Sony in bringing its story-driven titles exclusively to PlayStation devices, and is the studio behind the development of such famous games as Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, and many other titles.
In early 2019, NetEase purchased a minority stake in Quantic Dream Studio during 2019 in order to support the studio's vision of becoming a global entertainment company with multiple franchises and develop new technologies in the development of future video games.
Sources revealed that Chinese company NetEase bought Quantic Dream for around 100 million euros, as we did not know the history of the deal until recently and therefore will fall under the PACTE law adopted by the French Parliament in 2019. This means that all employees will get shares in the French company. It is a law that aims to better share the value created by companies with their employees.
Several sources have revealed the amounts these employees received after the total acquisition, with amounts ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 euros in percentage, since the veteran administrator is the owner David Cage The founder and CEO holds 51% of Quantic Dream shares with family members, which means he has received payments that should be around 50 million euros.
In any case, this agreement between NetEase and the French studio could represent a lifeline for the development of the main game that is being worked on, which is Star Wars Eclipse, as sufficient resources and expertise will be obtained to complete its development and refinement in an adequate way to meet the capabilities of the current generation.
