The PS1 platform is etched in our minds with the distinct “Nostalgia” for several reasons, possibly because it was the first PlayStation device released in 1994. It could be because of its distinctive games like “Crash” and “Metal Gear”, all of these reasons made it one of the best-selling devices in the market. The industry has moved on. With the device selling that many copies, there are still secrets that no one knows.
If you are from the golden generation who experienced the first Sony device, you must be aware of many secrets that were part of the current use of the device. However, we are going to talk about the three most important ones that many were unable to discover at the time.
Turn your device around to make it work better!
How many times have we sat in front of our PlayStation waiting to get stuck on the game loading screen? This was due to the poor condition of the discs at the time, which would have been affected by any scratches, as well as excessive use of the drive. This was causing strain on the lens in the long run. The solution was to simply turn the device upside down so that the ventilation holes were facing upwards, this was helping the device to catch its breath although it is definitely a temporary solution, but it is worth a try.
Game Boy games running on PS1
Game Boy games used to run smoothly on the PlayStation 1, but the device wouldn’t have done so without a little tool called Super GB Booster. It’s a tool that isn’t officially authorized by Sony, but it was available in game stores and allowed you to run the most popular “Game Boy” games. Despite being a good tool, it wasn’t able to run many “Game Boy” games on the PlayStation 1, and some of them ran with inferior quality and overall experience than the Game Boy itself.
Drive, hidden mine!
The PS1 unit is actually full of secrets. For example, there are some games that, when you put them into any music player, the sounds of the game start to appear. Or you could get some hidden voice messages from the game, or you could get test copies of other games with it.
A game like Bandicoot 3 Warped had its share of these exciting puzzles. Anyone with the disc can secretly play the Spyro The Dragon demo by pressing UP Bottom, lower, left, right, square on the main game screen. But in Spyro 2 you could press R1 + L1 down circle triangle and right To play the Crash Team Racing demo.
Tell me, dear reader, did you know these secrets or have you tried any of the secrets of the PS1 platform?
