When the competitive fighting game Multiversus was released, it was met with unparalleled success, both in terms of critical and player numbers, as well as concurrent player numbers. Publisher Warner Bros. claimed that over 20 million players had downloaded and played the game within a month of its release.

The game has managed to win the admiration of a large number of players who have expressed their complete satisfaction with it through positive reviews, so that it has dominated the broadcasts of many influencers through famous broadcast platforms such as Twitch and others, and the game's content has been watched for more than 15 billion hours through various channels.

But despite the game being free and the developer supporting it with a lot of additional content, characters and more, the number of players began to gradually decline seven months after launch, and the number of daily players reached less than 1,000 players, which represents an estimated drop of 90% compared to the game's best performance, according to the SteamDB platform specialized in the subject.

Either way, this doesn't bode well for an ambitious game from a well-established publisher like Warner Bros. Hopefully both developer and publisher will move together to save the game as soon as possible.

Multiversus is developed by Player First Games, and was previously present at the Evo 2022 event for combat video games.

In your opinion, what are the reasons for such a frightening decrease in the number of players?
