After years of delays and hurdles, today the developer of the survival horror comic Dead Island 2 announces that it is gold and ready for release.
Deep Silver, the game's publisher, has confirmed after announcing the end of the game's development that it will be releasing it in global markets a full week earlier than previously announced. This means that the game will now be released on April 21st this year, instead of April 28th.
It appears that this early release of Dead Island 2 occurred because it previously coincided with the release date of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The game was first revealed in 2014 when Yager Studio was working on it at the time. But due to development issues, the project was transferred to Sumo Digital Studio, and then it was transferred again to another studio called Dambuster, which is one of Deep Silver's internal studios.
The game's events take place in the city of Los Angeles and provide the possibility of playing up to 6 players cooperatively over the Internet. Specifically, in the most iconic locations of Los Angeles, which include Beverly Hills and Venice Beach. While the story of the game has been described as follows:
Los Angeles is under quarantine and the military has withdrawn. Only you, and the few fighting this disease, keep the future of the city (and humanity) alive…
A deadly virus has broken out, turning the residents of Los Angeles into zombies. Players can choose from 6 characters, and each character has unique dialogues and characteristics.
So after the game's development process was completed and it went gold, we are now looking at the game's release on April 21st this year on both new and old generation platforms, as well as PC.
