After the horrors of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which affected the development of the game STALKER 2 and caused it to be postponed several times and for long periods. It seems that this war will now move to another level. This time, direct threats from some game communities, who claim to have confidential data, will be published on the Internet if their demands are not met.
Ukrainian developer GSC Game World faced many obstacles during the ongoing war and lost many of its employees because of it. However, after years, they managed to move their workplace from the capital Kiev to another European country in order to continue working on STALKER 2, which is now ready for release.
But today, a group calling itself Vestnik TSS appeared on the Internet claiming that it has 30 GB of data for the game STALKER 2 and threatening to publish it on the Internet if its demands are not met.
What are the demands of the STALKER 2 hackers?
The statement was published on the VK.com website by the game's community, supported by a group of Russian hackers, in order to emphasize their demands, and to prove the validity of their claim, they attached several screenshots of an early version of the game that had not reached the Internet before.
A year ago, developer GSC Game World removed support for Russian subtitles and voice acting from the game, and also tweaked the name to remove some of the Russian accents that were visible in it. The developer also announced that it no longer plans to publish or market the game in Russia or Belarus.
The first part of the demands, published online, urged the developer to reverse these decisions, leaving political differences behind and not reflecting them on Russian society.
There was also a community request for GSC Game World's Discord servers. In this request, the author of the letter suggested that the studio unlock the "NF Star" file on the game's official server, which had allegedly been blocked for no reason.
The translated statement reads as follows:
Until March 15, we are waiting for changes in the company's policy regarding the adequacy and acceptance of its fans (meaning Russian fans), no matter where they come from, as well as the return of support for the Russian language in the game, if not in the release version, then at least through an update with additional content released later.
The statement concluded that 30 gigabytes of data will be leaked, which includes a lot of information, images and videos from inside the STALKER 2 game, which will harm the game and the developer who has suffered a lot to achieve security, according to the statement.
As of this writing, there is no response from GSC Game World, the game's developer. Although we don't expect there to be a public response from them unless they take these threats seriously.
Stay tuned for more details if any news is found and until then, we mention that the STALKER 2 game is expected to be released later this year 2023 exclusively on Xbox Series and PC platforms.
