Remedy Entertainment's next major title is Alan Wake 2, but it's not just a new chapter in the character's journey. It's a highly anticipated title, even though the developer has worked on other games. In a new interview with Games Radar, creative director Sam Lake feels he “didn’t let go of Alan Wake” after the first game’s release in 2010.
I feel like I never left Alan Wake behind. There was always a strong intention to return to it; there were always more stories to tell and characters too precious to forget. The story continued to grow and evolve over the years, and we created a new concept between each project.
According to the creative director, the dream of Alan Wake 2 is even more ambitious. A game project like this is a very complex undertaking, as it's the developer's largest project to date. And there are many different aspects to work on.
Alan Wake 2 will be released this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store. The title is funded by Epic Games and is more of a horror game than the first. In terms of scope and scale, the developer described the story as massive, with more pages written for the setting than any other game in the past.
While no further gameplay details were revealed, CEO Tiro Virtalla said it's a great remake of the previous version with many new features and is confident the team will "release an excellent game." Stay tuned for more details in the coming months, and don't forget to share your predictions for Season 2 in the comments section.
