SEGA hasn't released any major titles lately, but it seems like everyone is focused on the future. The company's latest reports show that it has a major title in development for a 2026 release.
This year, SEGA has been content to release a handful of its smaller classic titles in the form of remakes and remasters, with no major titles completely missing out. On the other hand, the company is pinning its hopes this year on the upcoming Sonic Frontiers game, but it's not enough to satisfy fans hungry for more.
Sega is thinking about coming back into the spotlight for a while and sharing the glory and shine with other Japanese giants. Unfortunately, what happened to many other companies happened to it that it failed to keep up with the new trend in the gaming industry.
However, this does not necessarily mean that it will not return, but for every failed horse, the company will need a lot of time and effort to overcome again as it was in the past. Their CEO Haruki Satomi said that they intend to do something revolutionary in their next project and added:
The ultimate goal of the 'Super Game' strategy is to create a revolutionary game. The project will attract far more active users than any of the group's games so far.
One of the keys to achieving this goal is if we can bring together a large community. Not just players, but also viewers who stream the game and viewers who watch their videos.
According to Satomi, this type of community will further expand and develop the game's content, adding value to the game that the developers never imagined. Satomi is reported to have confirmed that the development budget for this project is large and can generate higher revenues.
The new project is said to be specific to the Persona series. But do you think the game will be worth waiting for until 2026, which is its release date?
