Sony's PlayStation brand has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling home appliance brand of all time in the world. This record achieved by the company comes after calculating the total sales of all home appliances launched by the company since its inception until now.

This is perhaps not surprising, given that Sony's PS2 is the fastest-selling home console in history. The first console in the family, the PS One, also performed very well. As such, no other console brand can rival the PlayStation brand in total home hardware sales, not even Nintendo can surpass it.

This company's registration was spotted by one of the accounts specialized in transmitting news via Twitter. A photo of Jim Ryan was attached to the head of the Guinness World Records company, holding the certificate proving the company's record-breaking achievement.

It is reported that sales of the first family console were over 100 million units within a decade of its launch in 1994. While PS2 sales reached 155 million units sold by the end of 2012. Meanwhile, PS3 sales reached 87.4 million units by the end of March 2017. While total PS4 sales reached 117.2 million units as of March 31, 2022.

In terms of handheld platforms, the PSP had total sales of 80 million units as of November 2013. Its successor, the PS Vita, is estimated to have sold 15 to 16 million units. This is despite the fact that Sony has not officially disclosed the sales figures of its mobile devices.

Does the brand deserve the title of Guinness World's Best-Selling Home Appliances?
