Google has announced that it is in the early stages of launching a new Chatbot service called Bard, which would compete with ChatGPT.

According to what he said Sundar Pichai Google CEO said Bard will initially be open to internal testers. Then, at a later, undisclosed date, it will be opened to the public.

Pichai commented on the matter, saying:

We’ve been working on an experimental conversational AI service powered by LaMDA, which we’re calling Bard. Today, we’re taking it a step further by opening it up to trusted testers before making it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks.

Like ChatGPT, which was launched in late November by AI research firm OpenAI, Bard is built on an extensible language model. These models are trained on a large online dataset to generate convincing responses to user queries.

The news comes at a time when Google's flagship product is widely seen as its biggest threat in years. Two months after it was released to the public, ChatGPT has been used to generate articles, stories, song lyrics and answer some questions people may have asked Google before.

The huge interest in ChatGPT has prompted Google management to rush to introduce a similar tool that can perform various operations and activities through the use of artificial intelligence.

In a tweet last year, the Gmail co-founder warned Paulo Bouchet That Google may be just a year or two away from being completely paralyzed by the rise of artificial intelligence.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has revealed plans to invest billions of dollars in artificial intelligence rules OpenAI and said it would integrate the tool into some of its products — rumor has it plans to integrate it into its Bing search engine.

What is Bard and how is it different from ChatGPT?

The underlying technology that powers Bard has been around for a long time, though it hasn’t been widely available to the public. About two years ago, Google unveiled its Language Model for Conversational Applications, or LaMDA. It said last Monday that the technology will power Bard.

LaMDA made headlines late last year when a former Google engineer claimed the chatbot was “sentient” and behaving far beyond expectations. His claims were widely criticized in the AI community at the time.

Google also provided an example of a user asking Bard to explain new discoveries from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope in a way that might interest a 9-year-old.

Bard gave talking points in his response:

In the year 2023, JWST observed several galaxies nicknamed “Green Peas.” They were so named because they were small, round, and green, like a pea itself.

Bard can help you make many decisions, such as planning a party, suggesting a meal based on the ingredients available in your fridge, or creating an entire article, as is the case with this article, which we used artificial intelligence to prepare.

Furthermore, imagine that you are playing a PvE video game where artificial intelligence can control enemies by studying their behavior and their way of playing and then confronting them. The challenges will be deadly then, and we can say goodbye to the Souls games to enter the era of artificial intelligence, which at some point will make you despair.

Are you ready for the future?
