Sony's loyalty and rewards program, Playstation Stars, is currently offline, and the company remains silent on the matter and has not provided convincing answers to players' questions.
The PlayStation Stars program, for those unfamiliar, is a program launched by Sony about two years ago. It's available in most stores, except Arab stores, including stores in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others. The program's idea is to reward players who purchase from the PlayStation Store or play newly released games, earning points that can later be exchanged for free PSN credits or even specific games, with a constantly updated list.
About two weeks ago, Sony sent messages to all players through the PlayStation app, informing them that the app was experiencing some issues and would stop working for a certain period, without specifying the issue or specifying a specific date for when the program would return to work again.
This issue angered the gaming community so much that some of them started sending messages to the support team asking about the return of the program, but the support team did not give clear answers, as the gaming community attached via Reddit.
Why Playstation Stars is a super important program for gamers!
The program is very important to gamers, especially PS Plus subscribers, for several reasons, including:
- PS Plus subscribers earn free points by downloading free monthly games for each different category, whether Essential, Extra, or even Premium.
- The free games that can be obtained through the program can be exchanged for a small amount of points, some of which do not exceed 5,000 points, such as Cuphead and others.
- The gaming community's intention is to take advantage of the current free monthly games available in addition to in-store purchase offers to earn more points and take advantage of discounts.
We'll await Sony's response, which should be prompt, regarding when the program will resume. Until then, please let us know if you're a PlayStation Stars member or not. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
